Bullets From Bloody Gully
Well not the bullets, just the casings, but they tell the story anyway. The two shell casings on the left are from a German rifle and the two on the right are from an American rifle. Both sets of casings were found in the same location at the "Bloody Gully" battle area, southwest of Carentan. More specifically, these casings were found by British researcher/author Ian Gardner in 2005 during his investigations into actions of the 3rd Battalion, 506th PIR in Normandy for his upcoming book. They were found in the rear of the area where Company "G" was engaging the enemy. Why would both German and US rounds have been fired from that same spot?
